I offer three services to guide individuals or groups towards personal growth and well-being; individual therapy, group therapy and corporate wellness. The golden thread that runs through my services is the fact that I take a practical, skills-building approach towards bringing balance, growth and well-being to your life or workplace.
My passion is to empower people to live emotionally healthy and balanced lives that they enjoy.
Individual therapy offers the opportunity for me to get to know you in more depth and explore what you’d like to gain from this journey of life. Together we co-create what a balanced life means for you. We also look forward to what you’d like your life to look like 5, 10 or 20 years from now, and then we start heading in that direction!
What can you expect from a first session?
In the first session I will ask you a lot of questions and gather some information on your current struggles. You and I will work together to identify your main aims for our time together. We will also discuss how often we will meet; weekly, every second week or monthly, and you can decide whether you want to commit to this journey together. There will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you’d like on how I work and what our time together will look like.
Some people see me for 6-8 sessions to build a specific skill or address a specific problem, and then they feel like they’ve learned enough to continue this journey on their own. Others will see me for a longer period- as a guide throughout their journey of studies, starting a new job, a new relationship, or just the ups and downs of life.
This is a discussion you and I can have together and decide what is the best approach for your individual needs.

“After going to various psychologists and counselors over the years, I feel that with Karlien at last I’m making headway and that I’m with someone who understands! She is very practical and very knowledgeable and we really work though things deeply. She is also caring and empathetic. I would recommend her to anyone.”
~ Hannah, Individual Therapy
Group therapy is an incredibly powerful tool that shows positive outcomes equal to, or in some cases exceeding individual therapy. Joining a group can be an addition to your individual therapy, or a stand-alone therapy process. A group offers the opportunity for you to see that you are not alone in your circumstances or problems. It also offers a safe, supportive and confidential space to process and guide you forward. Groups also offer the opportunity for accountability and input from others.
I facilitate various groups or workshops throughout the year, for more information click below;
- 8 Week Outpatient Eating Disorder Programme
- Anxiety management series
- Family support workshop for loved ones of those suffering with eating disorders
Should you be interested in joining a group, please let me know and I will add your name to the list. Please state the type of group you are interested in attending.

“It was with a little trepidation that I committed to a weekly support group, but the experience of checking-in with a small, diverse group of people, facilitated by Karlien, turned out to be one of the most transformative experiences of my life. It helped me process challenges (real and imagined!), share triumphs, get clarity on decisions and find perspective on conflicts in my relationships. Our supportive little community became a safe space for me to unpack my issues – big and small – and, after a year, I look back on my state of mind and sense of wellbeing and acknowledge what I believe to be a lasting shift. Karlien is intuitive, wise and gracious and the experience of connecting with her and the group participants has given me an insight into myself that has improved my mental health more than I could have imagined. Thank you Karlien.”
~ Ceri, Group Therapy
“The workshop was so much more than I expected – I expected some commentary on how we are all different but should still try to get along by being more understanding – instead I got genuine insight into what makes other people tick. More than that, I learnt things about myself. Introspection is not always easy (or pleasant), but it is necessary to grow – not to become a better person, but to become a happier person. As with everything in life, you get out what you put in. My team also greatly benefited from the workshop – at least they now understand my need for perfection – and I understand their need for patience.”

Workplace wellness has become an important focus in today’s modern world. We spend 8 hours or more of a day at work, and through creating a supportive, uplifting environment in the workplace one can affect the lives of all your employees positively. A healthy workplace translates into reduced employee absenteeism, higher retention rates, improved productivity and focus, and less strain on the company’s bottom line. It is imperative for employers to invest in their employees, and beneficial for employees to take part in workplace well-being initiatives.
